DEFORM AND KANTHAL IN COLLABORATION
Deform AB has together with Kanthal®, part of Sandvik Group, developed an efficient and stable process for hot forming of the Kanthal® material APMT™.
In September we successfully managed to produce parts to Kanthal® for the first real customer order, a furnace for sinter production for working temperatures up to 1200°C.
Kanthal® APMT™ is an advanced powder metallurgical material with very good resistance to oxidation and high temperature strength up to 1250°C. Traditional heat resistance materials like 310 or 253MA™ are degraded with severe oxidation, corrosion and deformation when exposed for temperatures over 1050°C.
Producing products in Kanthal® APMT™ for high temperature applications results not only in longer life-span but also gives an opportunity to increase the process temperature and the furnace output. In other words, it enables improvements of processes that are impossible with traditional materials.
When hot forming Kanthal® APMT™ the process needs really high temperatures, high accuracy and control. We at Deform have done several tests and now we have a stable and efficient process.
There is a big potential in this collaboration, the Kanthal® material APMT™ and our hot form technique is a very powerful combination. We are looking forward to more challenges and orders.
