We hot form and quench and temper parts for vehicle protection, human protection and bomb disposal. Our unique method, the Deform:Method™, eliminates welded joints. This makes customers’ products lighter, stronger and safer.
Our customers are spread around the world and are the best in ballistic protection, bomb disposal, mine protection and protection against improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The Deform:Method™ here involves: hot forming ballistic steels; quenching and tempering the plates; and, ensuring the original plate properties are restored in the shaped product. As a result of this, our customers can make use of three-dimensional shapes that cannot be achieved with cold forming. They can also avoid integrity weakening welds at critical points.
We offer: scanning of complex shapes; production of three-dimensional data sets; tool creation; and, the manufacture and supply of ready-to-use protection modules direct to our customers’ assembly lines. We can also carry out any additional welding of add-on details.
Alone and with our customers, we have carried out comprehensive ballistic tests. In these, we have not only met, but also often exceeded stated expectations. Welded designs are always poorer at, for example, withstanding mines or IEDs.
We work with a wide range of materials. In several customer applications, we currently hot form and restore properties for armour steels with a Brinell hardness of 600 and higher. We also have a number of products where, after our three-dimensional hot forming, we reinforce the customer’s product with shrapnel protection. Aluminium, kevlar/aramid and titanium are examples of add-on materials that, using our in-house developed methods, we form, attach, install or supply separately.
Some examples of products are fire walls, belly plates, mine protection plates, IED protection plates, pillars, hatches, roofs and other ballistic kits.
